Google Cloud and Informatica’s strategic collaboration to transform data management

Working in collaboration, tech giants Google Cloud and Informatica Inc. are seeking to transform the landscape of data management and artificial intelligence integration.

By combining strengths, the two companies are simplifying the migration to cloud platforms, enhancing data governance and unlocking new opportunities for AI-driven innovation. The partnership is not just about technology; it’s about setting a new standard for how businesses can effectively leverage data to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market.

“One of the unique things about the Google partnership is they’re uniquely positioned in some ways to be focused on customer data platform type use cases,” said Rik Tamm-Daniels (pictured, right), group vice president of technology alliances at Informatica.

Tamm-Daniels was joined by Don Tirsell (left), global head of partnerships and business development, Google Cloud, at Google, spoke with theCUBE’s Rob Strechay and Rebecca Knight at Informatica World, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how the partnership between Google Cloud and Informatica is poised to further drive AI adoption and innovation and how the collaboration is working to meet the changing needs of businesses across industries. Shaping the future of data management through collaboration

The companies have a longstanding relationship, fostered by a strong partnership, according to Tirsell. This has played a crucial role when it comes to integrating Google Cloud’s data and AI platforms with Informatica’s comprehensive data management solutions.

“We have a whole spectrum of joint customers,” he said. “It’s a really mature and accelerating partnership to drive the value of data management for getting to the cloud.”

The collaboration aims to simplify the migration of legacy customers to the cloud while also supporting new cloud-native companies. The partnership’s maturity and accelerating growth are evident in the companies’ joint initiatives, which focus on making data management more accessible and effective for a broad spectrum of clients.

“It’s one of these things that the uniqueness of how the master data management and metadata and how Informatica really brings it together,” Strechay said. “When you start to look at how it has evolved in the cloud and how bringing these pieces together, it has to be kind of a strategy when you’re talking to customers.”

AI and data management changing business operations

One of the key innovations discussed was the integration of Master Data Management for BigQuery. This development simplifies the process for businesses to leverage Customer 360 Data for analytics use cases, thus supporting more effective and grounded AI applications.

“We have a set of services that are really helping organizations transform the way they bring data to the cloud … and putting the best practice across that much more easily and simply,” Tirsell said. “We view that as a foundation for our other set of services around AI from Vector and our generative AI models, and they’re very tightly intertwined in the dependency for having that data foundation that Informatica is fueling to develop new next-gen AI applications.”

Looking ahead, the partnership between Google Cloud and Informatica is poised to further drive AI adoption and innovation. With a solid data foundation and cloud-native capabilities, the collaboration is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of businesses across industries, according to Tirsell.

“I think with generative AI and having a data foundation, the concepts of AI can be adopted more rapidly,” he said. “From a trust, reliability, sovereignty perspective, we’ve innovated a lot on delivering those to different geographies around the world, or different industry regulation, and I think we’re at that tipping point where using the cloud for your data platform is no longer a question about, ‘no, I don’t trust it’ — it’s when.”
