Discussing search-powered AI with Kathleen Walker, senior director of product marketing at Elastic B.V. AI

Progressing to search-powered AI: An overview of Elastic’s approach

Spawning hardware assistant devices, such as the Rabbit R1 and Humane Ai Pin, artificial intelligence has revolutionized search. With information now more democratized than ever, companies like Elastic B.V. are innovating with AI to overhaul enterprise logging, analytics, search and observability use cases.

“All search experiences are a little bit different,” said Kathleen Walker (pictured), senior director of product marketing at Elastic. “If you think about almost a year ago, we were all talking about this new thing called generative AI. There are a lot of questions out there like, ‘Is traditional search dead? How is this going to change the face of this space?’ What we found is it has, but it has actually drawn more attention to the need for some of that traditional search functionality.”

Walker spoke with theCUBE Research analysts Savannah Peterson and Rob Strechay at Google Cloud Next 2024, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Elastic is leveraging Google LLC’s AI chops to unlock new search innovation areas. (* Disclosure below.)

Expanding on the Google connection

In addition to expanded gen AI technologies, Elastic’s Google tie-in has facilitated a distributed cloud infrastructure. The synergy between Elastic and Google’s Distributed Cloud is a marriage of convenience, offering customers a seamless transition toward enhanced search capabilities, according to Walker.

“What we focused on is making sure that we’re partnering with these technologies and working closely with them to make sure that Elasticsearch works effectively,” she said. “Google is a perfect example of that, where we got together and built some reference architectures that we could share with our mutual customers about how to build conversational experiences on Elasticsearch [and] on Google.”

The subject also extends into practical applications, where real-world use cases support the transformative potential of search-powered AI. From facilitating customer support to revolutionizing internal workplace dynamics, Elastic’s solutions catalyze efficiency and customer satisfaction, according to Walker.
