Eric Soden and Shawn Mock of Capitalize Consulting talk to theCUBE about the Alteryx user experience.

“There’s no software out there that’s perfect. There’s always things that you wish it did, the enhancements that you wish were there,” Soden said. “I come from an IT background. So, as I was working with Alteryx, I was thinking from an IT perspective, how do we audit this…and as we started realizing that Alteryx had areas where those types of things could be improved, a lot of things that you would think of in more of a traditional IT SDLC type life cycle. We thought, ‘Well, if you see something that could be better, make it better.’”

Soden and Shawn Mock (right), senior manager of analytics at Capitalize Consulting, spoke with theCUBE Research’s Rebecca Knight and Rob Strechay at Alteryx Inspire, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how Capitalize Analytics uses Alteryx products to enhance user experience and save time and resources. (* Disclosure below.)

Capitalize Analytics’ strategies for improving user experience with Alteryx

Capitalize Analytics harvests metadata from Alteryx workflows for searchability, replaceability and documentation, emphasizing the importance of monitoring workflows for potential problems and ensuring consistency in record processing for accuracy, Soden explained.

“Alteryx made its home in the business and accounting and finance and HR and tax, but then when somebody comes to you and says, ‘Hey, we’re about to make a change to SAP. Show me everything that we’re going to affect,’ you have to be able to do that quickly,” Soden said. “Ideally, what we’re doing is we’re just making it more efficient and easier for people to very quickly be able to answer questions about usage, about security, about STLC, about change management, about what’s going on in the workflows.”

Capitalize Analytics benefits from its small size and lack of obstacles, allowing for quick changes, while also using the conference to connect with clients, meet new people and stay updated on technology changes, according to Mock.

“I think my takeaway has been there’s been such great groundswell around our products that people are already coming to us already knowing about us,” Mock said. “They’re approaching us at the booth saying, ‘Hey, I have a documentations use case that I’d love to talk to you about,’ or, ‘I have issues like monitoring data connections and I heard you were the guys.’ There’s definitely a need that we’re addressing in the market, and it’s great to see that that is driving people to us and we’re able to help.”
