Purpose-built AI solutions: HPE’s role in shaping the future of enterprise AI

Purpose-built AI solutions are revolutionizing how enterprises tackle the new workload of the decade: artificial intelligence.

With the distinct trajectory of AI architecture compared to virtualization and cloud-native technologies, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. leverages its compute power to develop foundational models tailored for specific use cases. This strategic focus is helping businesses navigate the complexities of AI implementation and maximize technological potential, according to Frances Guida (pictured), director of compute solutions product management at HPE.

“AI has been talked about in the industry for decades, but with the evolution of ChatGPT, all of a sudden it sparked the art of the possible,” Guida said. “One of the things that we’ve really focused very hard on is a set of purpose-built solutions that can actually take a lot of the complexity about how do you configure a system? How do you configure the network? How do you connect the system to the storage? What’s the right software environment? And putting that all into a package that is almost, if I would dare say, turnkey.”

Guida spoke with theCUBE analysts Rebecca Knight and Rob Strechay at Red Hat Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how HPE makes purpose-built AI solutions a reality (* Disclosure below.)

Strategic partnerships as a stepping stone toward purpose-built AI solutions

Through its long-standing partnership with Red Hat Inc. that spans 25 years, HPE is able to provide a wide range of AI capabilities. This collaboration goes deeper to include areas, such as Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform that enhances enterprise scalability, security and simplicity, Guida pointed out.

“I actually even remember the beginning of the HPE-Red Hat partnership and it’s phenomenal to see how it’s evolved,” she noted. “We have reference architectures, we have full-blown solutions that customers can buy. We’re touching almost every part of how Red Hat and Red Hat obviously has expanded. We touch Ansible, so it’s really tremendous how we can come together to provide these complete solutions for Red Hat customers.”

For purpose-built AI solutions to become a reality, HPE has also made a strategic collaboration with Nvidia Co. This partnership is meant to maximize systems, such as ProLiant servers, for better AI results, according to Guida.

“We spend months talking to Nvidia engineers to figure out exactly how to optimize the systems,” she stated. “We’ve been partnered with Nvidia probably just about as long as we’ve been partnered with Red Hat. Obviously, Nvidia GPU is part of our ProLiant server and part of our Cray server portfolio. We have our own AI software that we’re aligning with their software.”
